Your Shot FAQ (Wild Card FAQ below)

I have never DJed before, can I still enter?

YES! If you are selected into your states’ 90, you will receive full training and all the skills needed to take to the stage and perform your very first club set!

Do I need to be 18 to enter?

YES, all entrants must be over the age of 18 by the time the registration days are held in your state.

How long is the training?

Training will run for 3 hrs each week (6 weeks in total) with training sessions running at multiple times each week for anyone who has work, uni, school etc.

I work full time, can I still enter?

Yes you can. You do however need to be available for training which will run for three hours each week for a total of six weeks.

I have played at a major festival, am I able to enter?

Unfortunately not. Your Shot is open to those with limited experience on the professional circuit.

Can we use laptops for Serato, Traktor or other DJ software during the competition?

No. The contestants will be taught on Pioneer XDJ-RX’s for the 6 weeks. This equipment will be the same on the event days and all contestants must use the same equipment.

I have registered in previous years but never made it past the interview stage, can I enter again this year?

Yes! Your Shot is open to anyone who has registered and interviewed in previous years as long as they did not make it further than the interview stage of the competition.

I have registered but am unable to make the interview day. Is there another option?

No. Unfortunately due to time constraints and the volume of people that need to be interviewed there can only be the one interview day in each state which must be attended for a chance to move onto the next stage of the competition.

I am currently not living in a state that runs the competition. Am I able to enter?

No. At the moment Your Shot is only open to residents living in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland, however we are working hard to include the other states as soon as possible!

What do I need to bring to the registration day?

A photo of yourself for us to hang on to. Nothing else is required, however we suggest bringing your friends along to keep you company!

Can I register if I'm from another country?

How long will the competition go for?

The 2016 competition will start in May and finish in July or August depending on what state you’re in.

I'm going away during the competition. Will this impact my involvement if I'm a contestant?

To be a part of the competition you will be required to attend every weekly training session (six in total), as well as fortnightly meetings (four in total) and the event day. Attendance is 100% mandatory – failure to comply will result in your immediate withdrawal from the competition.

What does the training involve?

The training course involves a 3 hour tutorial each week for a total of six weeks. It covers all the essentials to get you confidently up on stage at the Event Day.

I registered but now my friend wants to enter with me as a duo. Is this possible?

Yes. Your friend must register online as well and make sure you’re both interviewed as a duo.

I entered the wrong details on the registration form, does this matter?

If it’s critical you may register again. If not, talk to your interviewer at the registration day.

Can I enter as an individual and a duo?

No. You can only be interviewed as an individual OR a duo.

How long will the registration day run for?

Until we get through everybody! (Late afternoon!)

Your Shot Wild Card FAQ

Will the Wild Cards be competing against the trained contestants?

NO. The Wild Card competition is a stand alone competition. You will be competing against other Wild Cards but not the trained contestants in the main Your Shot competition.

Do I need to be 18 to enter?

YES, all entrants must be over the age of 18 by the time the registration days are held in your state.

Will the Wild Cards receive training?

No, the Wild Cards will not receive training.

Yes. You aren’t required to attend training, only meetings and the event finals so the impact to your work schedule should be limited.

Can we use laptops for Serato, Traktor or other DJ software during the competition?

No, Wild Cards must perform using only the Pioneer XDJ-RX and USBs.

I have held a residency at a club before, can I still enter?

Yes. The Wild Card competition is for those with 12+ months experience however we will asses each application on a case by case basis. The selectors decision is final.

What do I need to bring to the registration day?
